Ski in the spring, explore in the summer

My family and I were lucky enough to visit in Park City, Utah, twice — once in the spring for some skiing and again in July to experience summer in the mountains.

These trips were our first time visiting Utah. Now we have a newfound love of the state and hope to have more vacations in Utah.

Where We Stayed In Park City, Utah

We stayed at Sunrise Lodge, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club both visits to Park City.

This was our family’s first experience at a ski-in ski-out resort. It will be nearly impossible to beat that convenience in the future.

Nothing is better than putting on your skis close to Sunrise Lodge, jumping on the lift in the morning and then rolling right back in the afternoon.

The rest of our resort experience was just as enjoyable — including the large Suites, convenient grocery service, valet ski service and proximity to Canyons Village at Park City and the airport.

Spring Trip

We were lucky with the snow in March and skied on quality snow for a solid five days. Just as we were leaving, the temperatures rose and began the spring melt.

Our family is a mixed bag of skiers and snowboarders at different skill levels, from beginner to intermediate. The ski trails in the Canyons were great because of the wide range of runs for all abilities. Towards the end of the week, our beginner crew had built up the courage to make the great adventure of skiing from the Canyons across to Park City Mountain Resort.

The next day, we completed the reverse journey from Park City to Canyons. The bus service allows you to move easily from Canyons to Park City ski lifts. I found that the longer adventure built everyone’s confidence, and they had a great time.

Summer Trip

Returning to Sunrise Lodge in the summer felt a little like returning home. We knew where everything was and how it worked — but we were also excited to try something different.

On our first day, we jumped on mountain bikes and rode up the trails from the property. I enjoyed seeing the transition from snow and ice in the winter to summery grasses and wildflowers.

There are also plenty of great trails to hike and explore. Park City has a great outdoor adventure area for kids.

As a triathlete, I had skied the Iron Man Trail a few times in winter, so I wanted to return in the summer. The trail is much harder on a bike than on skis.

We highly recommend vacationing in Utah. Thanks for having us, Park City. We’re looking forward to seeing you again sometime soon.
